2023 MLB World Series: Texas Rangers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks.

2023 World Series preview: Predictions, inside intel, odds - ESPN

Today I want to dive into the 2023 MLB world series. This year, the teams in the world series are both underdogs and were not supposed to even make it this far. Yet, here they are. 

The Texas Rangers are playing some of the best baseball in the world right now, led by their star shortstop in Corey Seager, and powerful right-fielder Adolis Garcia. Their pitching rotation is not at full health right now, but they are led by veteran Nathan Eovaldi, and the rest of their staff has proved that they can get it done. They have beat some big names to get this far, including the always dangerous and very talented Houston Astros, who always seem to find themselves deep into the MLB playoffs every year.

This is a dangerous squad. The opportunity for a home run or hard hit ball is very prominent from top to bottom of their lineup, and they seem to have just the right mix of players and comradery to keep rolling and hopefully win the world series.

    The Arizona Diamondbacks are a young, ambitious, and hungry baseball club. The team does not have     very many veterans or players that have been to a world series before, but that does not seem to affect        them. Corbin Carrol, their rookie sensation, has taken the baseball world by storm. He was named MLB     rookie of the year for 2023, and rightfully so. Their pitching staff is led by two very talented starting        pitchers, in Zac     Gallen and Merrill Kelly, who both have proved they can stand up to anyone. They        also have a very deep bullpen right now.

    The Diamondbacks have had a knack for big wins and comeback wins this postseason, beating the            Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves, both teams seeded higher than them in the rankings. This            team is built for clutch moments and provided ample examples of why they deserve to be in this spot.

    Currently, the World Series is tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven game series. Game three is set for tonight,            October 30th at 8:03 pm EST. I am looking forward to watching these two teams battle it out and fight        for their dreams to come true.

Mercyhurst falls to Canisus in last weekend's matchups

  Mercyhurst takes their first two losses of the season this weekend over Canisus in a heated match up with the score of 5-2 and 6-1. Friday's game started off even with the end of the 1st period 2-2 and throughout the game Canisus had the Lakers number scoring 2 goals in the second and finishing up the 3rd period with one goal to end the game 5-2 giving Mercyhurst their first loss of the season. On Saturday the two teams travel to Mercyhurst to continue the weekend and the game went neck and neck through two periods until Canisus found the lakers number notching 4 goals to take the weekend sweep over the lakers. Mercyhurst is now 7-2-1 this season and will try to bounce back next week as they head to Philadelphia to take on teams such as Rutgers and Widener to get things rolling again.

Hurstool Weekly: Mercyhurst Club Hockey

 Last week the Lakers fell to John Caroll and Kent State in their two game weekend. On Friday, Mercyhurst was at home facing John Caroll in a tight matchup losing 5-4 in regulation. First period was nothing more than a shooting fest for both teams with the score at the end being 3-2 John Caroll. In the second period, John Caroll added 2 more goals on the scoreboard to make the score 5-2 and in the third the lakers try to bounce back but was too late making the final score of the contest 5-4. On Saturday the Lakers traveled to Kent State in a divisional matchup still trying to catch their first win of the season. The Lakers came out slow in the first period ending the period with the score 2-0. Second period had many altercations and fights with 3 players from each team being thrown out of the game for fighting. With all that went down Kent state ends the period 3-1 scoring a goal with 6 seconds left in the period. Kent State went on to win the game 4-1 with an empty net seeking 1st...

 Pittsburgh Steelers off to a 6-3 start The Pittsburgh Steelers sit at 2nd place in the current AFC North rankings with a record of 6-3. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a young, talented group with a winning culture and and experienced coaching staff. George Pickens, the wide receiver, running back Najee Harris, and quarterback Kenny Pickett lead the offense.
