Hurstool Weekly: Mercyhurst Club Hockey
Last week the Lakers fell to John Caroll and Kent State in their two game weekend. On Friday, Mercyhurst was at home facing John Caroll in a tight matchup losing 5-4 in regulation. First period was nothing more than a shooting fest for both teams with the score at the end being 3-2 John Caroll. In the second period, John Caroll added 2 more goals on the scoreboard to make the score 5-2 and in the third the lakers try to bounce back but was too late making the final score of the contest 5-4.
On Saturday the Lakers traveled to Kent State in a divisional matchup still trying to catch their first win of the season. The Lakers came out slow in the first period ending the period with the score 2-0. Second period had many altercations and fights with 3 players from each team being thrown out of the game for fighting. With all that went down Kent state ends the period 3-1 scoring a goal with 6 seconds left in the period. Kent State went on to win the game 4-1 with an empty net seeking 1st place in the division as the Lakers still hoping to catch their first win in the division next week as they go on to play Oswego State and RIT next weekend.
