 Pittsburgh Steelers off to a 6-3 start The Pittsburgh Steelers sit at 2nd place in the current AFC North rankings with a record of 6-3. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a young, talented group with a winning culture and and experienced coaching staff. George Pickens, the wide receiver, running back Najee Harris, and quarterback Kenny Pickett lead the offense. The defense of the Steelers, which is anchored by TJ Watt, Cameron Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick is also excellent and one of the best in the league in many statistical categories.   Pictured: Kenny Pickett Photo courtesy of 90.5 WESA   The offense has been a bit shaky at times during this season due to the lack of productivity with the rushing game, issues with protecting Kenny Pickett, and overall struggles from Pickett and the running game.   This week the AAU came out with their rankings of every team playing and they ranked Mercyhurst 6 best team in the country out of 72 college teams competing for the AAU national championship. Mercyhurst has been on fire as of late recording a 7-0-1 record to start off the campaign and look to keep moving forward as the season rolls on. This last weekend Mercyhurst played to games at home facing Rochester and Alleghany College in two hard fought matches. Mercyhurst took their first loss of the season losing to Rochester 3-2 in OT and bouncing back the next day taking the sweep against Alleghany with a score of 2-1. Both goalies from the Mercyhurst team were brick walls stopping 75 out of 79 shots to keep the Lakers on top this season. The Lakers have a two game weekend against a hungry Canisus College team looking to take the Lakers out of the top 10.  Here are some of the action shots taken from this weekends games:

Rangers win World Series; first championship in 63 years!                The Texas Rangers have beat the Arizona Diamondbacks ! The Texas Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in a best-of-seven series, winning the series 4-1. Their life-long dream has just became a reality. This is surely a moment that this team and this organization will ever forget! The Rangers, after losing one of their best players (Adolis Garcia) in game 3, relied heavily on their star shortstop, Corey Seager. And he delivered. Seager went 6-21 with three home runs in the world series, and did not record a single error. He won World Series MVP, an award that was much deserved for the confidence he radiated and leadership he showed throughout the World Series.  ...

 Last week the Lakers fell to John Caroll and Kent State in their two game weekend. On Friday, Mercyhurst was at home facing John Caroll in a tight matchup losing 5-4 in regulation. First period was nothing more than a shooting fest for both teams with the score at the end being 3-2 John Caroll. In the second period, John Caroll added 2 more goals on the scoreboard to make the score 5-2 and in the third the lakers try to bounce back but was too late making the final score of the contest 5-4. On Saturday the Lakers traveled to Kent State in a divisional matchup still trying to catch their first win of the season. The Lakers came out slow in the first period ending the period with the score 2-0. Second period had many altercations and fights with 3 players from each team being thrown out of the game for fighting. With all that went down Kent state ends the period 3-1 scoring a goal with 6 seconds left in the period. Kent State went on to win the game 4-1 with an empty net seeking 1st...

Today I want to dive into the 2023 MLB world series. This year, the teams in the world series are both underdogs and were not supposed to even make it this far. Yet, here they are.  The Texas Rangers are playing some of the best baseball in the world right now, led by their star shortstop in Corey Seager , and powerful right-fielder Adolis Garcia . Their pitching rotation is not at full health right now, but they are led by veteran Nathan Eovaldi , and the rest of their staff has proved that they can get it done. They have beat some big names to get this far, including the always dangerous and very talented Houston Astros , who always seem to find themselves deep into the MLB playoffs every year. This is a dangerous squad. The opportunity for a home run or hard hit ball is very prominent from top to bottom of their lineup,...

This week on Hurstool blog I wanna give you guys a little recap of what went down this weekend for the Mercyhurst Club hockey team and their big win over Gannon University. On Friday, the Lakers traveled to face off against their cross-town rival the Gannon Golden Knights over at the Erie Insurance Arena in a contested battle that each team did not wanna lose. The Lakers got things starting early scoring their 1st goal of the game going 3 minutes into the period with a greasy set up pass going straight into the net off a one timer which happened to be the only goal in the 1st ending the period 1-0. They got thing going again in the 2nd making it 2-0 leaving Gannon with a lot of work to get themselves back into the game. With just 5 minutes left in the period Gannon gets one back making the score 2-1 keeping it close with lakers fans in a nervous wreck.
